4 Festive Activities

with the pre-Christmas stress hitting hard and the last deadlines to meet, I often forget to truly enjoy this very beautiful time of year and hardly ever tick all the things off my to do list I intended to do. there’s always a million more things I have to finish. also, with the days getting shorter, it feels like days can’t be used to their full potential. christmas is my favourite time of the year and I think just December is to short for all my festive feels which means there’s no other option than making the most of every second I have.
The past Decembers have been beautiful for sure but due to many other factors as my education and work schedules, I hardly had time to enjoy December. this year, I was able to make a change in that and take a huge chunk of December and the festive period off work. probably one of the best decisions I have made so far this year. so in honour of that and because we all deserve some hours to truly enjoy the Christmas spirit, I thought I would share some very festive activities with you.

1. hot chocolate & festive films
I honestly would say I have quite a good taste when it comes to films but that goes all out the window as soon as Christmas hits. netflix has such a wide selection this year and even though most of them are super cheesy and you exactly know what’s gonna happen, it’s just so beautiful to cuddle up on the sofa with a blanket and just enjoy them. whilst the holiday will always be my firm favourite, I really have been loving the Netflix original ones and this year I will make it through all of them. the perfect treat to have with a beautifully cheesy Christmas film is some hot chocolate. I have been making the most delicious black forest hot chocolate and I will share the recipe with you for sure if you want me to.

2. see all the lights
nothing makes me happier than Christmas lights being put up and living in a big city means there are many beautiful displays but also privately decorated houses. every year, I like taking an afternoon out to drive around and see the prettiest ones in the city, as well as certain neighborhoods, were people go all out during this time of year. ku’damm always is one of my favourite places to see the lights. everything is decorated so perfectly with huge warm lights and it makes everything look so much more beautiful. it also makes the shorter days so much more bearable. they obviously also make for a perfect festive photoshoot which I just had to do.

3. Christmas markets
there’s no December without a Christmas market. it just makes me feel so festive wandering around little stalls with loads of products from small businesses, delicious and mostly very sugary food and a big mug of glühwein in hand. there are loads around where I live and over the years, I found real gems to visit. christmas markets might be a very obvious activity but you shouldn’t miss out on it. going with friends as a weekend activity makes it even more special and it could also make a very sweet date night and its also a good opportunity to buy some presents.
4. Friendmas
whilst most of the actual Christmas celebrations are mostly spend with family, I also love celebrating with my friends and creating traditions around the holidays just for friends. we always meet on christmas eve after the gift exchanges and celebration with our families in our favourite bar but we also love doing a very cosy afternoon with food, drinks, and secret Santa. just some hours altogether without thinking about work. its just about enjoying each others company. its beautiful and i love it.
