Halloween Makeup Made Easy

with Halloween right around the corner, I can’t stop watching all the Halloween tutorials on youtube. most talented sfx makeup artists create the craziest and most haunting looks and I’m just in awe. despite being quite talented when it comes to makeup, sfx is not my expertisé, probably because I have never truly practiced it. maybe its something I could learn but I’m not too confident with it plus, it needs loads of time and probs. also, I would really only do one makeup look per year which is why I rather keep on admiring. since I only go for all put for Halloween once a year when its time to go clubbing with my friends, I like keeping it as simple as possible.  I usually try and do a costume that doesn’t need too many new items I have to purchase and I can easily achieve myself without much preparation. the only thing I will always buy is some sort of fake blood. it’s usually available at the drugstore and I like going for the very thick scab blood. it just looks very nasty and adds the needed gore to any makeup.
one thing that I actually only use for Halloween is some proper black face paint. they also last a very long time and can be used for years on end. I got mine via Amazon and its the Eulenspiegel water activated black face paint. it really does the job and can be a very full black but also can be used very lightly. perfect for skulls or very heavy contouring. dark, smokey and purple shades are perfect for any type of easy Halloween makeup. the urban decay naked smokey palette is perfect for that. the eyeshadows work beautifully and are not only for Halloween. its a palette I use all year round but always is my best friend for slightly spooky makeup.
one thing I try to add to my Halloween makeup every year is glitter. I also love glitter around Christmas which means I have some loose glitter in my stash as it is. I like using nyx glitter. they have tons of colours and NYX also does a glitter primer. it makes it easy to apply and it stays put all evening without crumbling down your face. lashes are obviously a must too and the only ones I like using right now are the fleur loves lashes from eyelure. perfect accent lashes and when I use my duo lash glue with them, they stay on my eyes all night. halloween could be the time to use a very statement lip colour. I actually don’t have anything too crazy but Jeffree Star cosmetics would be my choice for all colour you can imagine plus long wear and comfort. redrum is a perfect red and would work for halloween too. last but not least, black nail polish is a must for me. as an avid Essie user, licorice is my colour of choice.
do you have any plans for Halloween? do you go all out or do you try to use products you already own?
